What are ratings and testimonials?
After each lesson, you have the opportunity to rate your tutor. Ratings and testimonials are two separate features:
- Ratings are a 1 (Bad) to 5 (Excellent) score that you can provide after every lesson in order to reflect your experience in that particular lesson.
- Testimonials are short written comments that tutors have the opportunity to share on their profile which will give future students a sense of what it's like to learn with that tutor.

How ratings work
A rating prompt will appear automatically after every completed lesson. The first question asked will rate your tutor experience from 1 to 5 (Excellent). If you don't submit a rating at that time, you won't have another opportunity to rate that lesson later.
If you rate a lesson with a 1, you'll be asked to share a bit more about what went wrong. This helps the Cambly's Tutor Quality team understand your experience and follow up if needed.
Can I change my rating?
No — once a rating has been submitted, it cannot be changed by you or by customer support.
Where does the rating score come from?
The score shown next to each tutor's name is a percentage representing how many of their last 200 lessons received a rating of 4 or 5. This gives you a snapshot of their recent performance, rather than an average across their entire history.
Testimonials
How to leave a testimonial
From time to time, you may be invited to write a testimonial for a tutor you've been consistently enjoying lessons with. If you receive this prompt, it's a great opportunity to share your experience! You can only submit one testimonial per tutor.
Where do testimonials appear?
Tutors can read their testimonials at any time from their tutor account. They are also randomly showcased on their profile page for other students to see.
Can I edit or delete my testimonial?
No — once a testimonial has been submitted, it cannot be changed or removed by you, your tutor, or customer support, so take a moment to make sure you're happy with it before submitting.
Super Tutors
You may notice some tutors have a Super Tutor badge on their profile. Super Tutors have completed over 700 lessons with consistently positive student feedback — a great signal if you're looking for an experienced and highly-rated tutor.
